Knee-high in July - time to take stock of your goals

In Kentucky, we have a saying, "Knee-high by the Fourth of July” which is an old adage used to gauge the success of your crops. In other words, if your corn is knee-high, chances are you're likely to have a good yield.

Take stock of where you are

Using this train of thought, folks everywhere should metaphorically take stock this time of year of how "your crops" are growing - meaning what are you growing and how's it going?

We're halfway through the year, so if you've been a grasshopper and anticipate lamenting the fact that you weren't an ant, now's the time to get up and get goin'.

Ask yourself - Journal Time

Here are a few powerful questions, I've asked myself that's helped inspire me to pop out of bed when the early morning rooster is calling you to get on with your soul's calling:

  1. On New Year's Eve, what would have regretted not starting or stopping this year?

  2. What's the one thing holding you back from going after that thing you really want?

  3. What's one seed you plant aka one step you can take (not talkin' about planting a whole "garden) that would get you movin' in the right direction?

Pour yourself that nice cup of coffee, tea, mocktail, or cocktail, take a deep breath, and write those answers in your journal, back of a napkin, or anything that will put your heart and mind's thoughts out into the garden.

Now let's watch what grows...
